Resources for Artists

Lalita is here to help you grow as an artist

This page is dedicated to information to help you become a better artist!

Content will be added on a regular basis. Some is free, some will be for sale (coming soon).

Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly, until you learn to do it well.

Simplifying in greyscale

One of the most important things artists need to learn is how to simplify and see the tonal values and structure

Start with separating your image into two tonal values, which is called a 'notan', just white and black.  White where the light hits, and black where it doesn't (note that Lalita chose to put black behind the entire top 2/3 even though light was hitting it...why do you think she did that?).
